Since the start of the new year I have been hard at work preparing my new website. I created my first author site on Wordpress two years ago, but I only had 3 books and very little content to work with. Now I have ten titles and much more content. Today marks the first day my new website will be hosted on Squarespace. Let me know what you think!
Descent Unto Dark is now formatted and ready to upload. I'm just finishing the book description now, and it looks like I will be able to upload it later tonight. Depending on Amazon it should be live sometime tomorrow! At this point I have heard from my beta readers, and can't thank them enough for their help in polishing my book. Their comments are invaluable. As soon as the book goes live I will post it here and on facebook. The 24 hour countdown has officially begun.
It's been almost two years since I published my first novel, and a lot has happened in that time. I've seen my books sell far more than I could have hoped, connected with incredible fans, and met countless amazing authors. Thank you to everyone who has expressed support, and especially those who have read my books. Leading up to the two year anniversary I have finally managed to redo the first cover. I am stunned to see how well it worked out, and am excited to get feedback from all of you. Let me know what you think! Elseerian
I love it when I sit down and the writing just flows. Normally my goal is to maintain a 2,500 word average, but every once in a while I knock out a great day like today. It's nowhere near my 8,000 record, but I'm still happy with it. Like or retweet and I will count it as a digital pat on the back. I'll keep you posted on the third installment of the White Mage Saga. Updates coming soon!
So I am super excited that Audible included Elseerian in a promotion. As of this morning Elseerian, The Gathering, and Seven Days are all in the top 100 audio books in Epic Fantasy. Elseerian is even #29. I can't believe people are listening to my books by such an incredible narrator. Just so you all know, if you have already purchased the kindle edition, you should be able to download the audio for an ENORMOUS discount. (Like 80% off) It's called Whispersinc. If any of you have listened to the audio, feel free to comment below with your thoughts.Check it out.
I can't believe I am so close to releasing this book. This is a story I have wanted to write since before I wrote The Gathering, but I didn't feel prepared to do it until now. It has been a challenge for a number of reasons. It takes place in a different time, so the language is different. It also launches a new mini-series, so I was building a lot of the world from scratch. At the same time I needed to introduce a whole new set of characters. In short, it has been more fun than I could have hoped. Today: I am turning over the book to my wife for her final edit. She will read through and mark anything that stands out to her. She loves this day, because it means I do dishes, pick up the kids from school, and do other parts of her job while she sits and reads.
Question of the day: In The List Unseen, how many of you guess The Hunter's identity? (Don't say who! We don't want to spoil it for anyone!)
Just one more day until I get to sign copies of Elseerian for the first time. I am happy to add that I was able to get print copies of the illustrated edition in time, so this will be the first time anyone gets to see the illustrations in that format. Feel free to message me on facebook or twitter and let me know if you plan on stopping by.Indie Bookfest 2013
I hope to see you there!
Location: Buena Vista Palace, Orlando Florida Date: August 3, 2013 Time: 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM
Don't forget that today is the last day the illustrated version of Elseerian is discounted. Don't forget to pick it up if you ever wanted to see what Azertorn looked like, or Siarra, or Jack. And when you do, send me a message with your comments on the drawings. I would love to hear your thoughts!
I am happy to announce the release of the illustrated version of Elseerian. This edition features the original text, along with several detailed illustrations, sketches, and maps that have been formatted exclusively for the kindle. Azertorn, Jack Myst, Siarra and other people and events have been drawn by David Griesmeyer, and help to show the story throughout Taryn's journey. And, as a mark of appreciation for all the support from readers, I will be dropping the price for this edition to .99 tomorrow and wednesday. If you have read and enjoyed Elseerian before, this is your chance to get the illustrated version at a discounted rate. Please feel free to post your thoughts on the artwork here on my blog, or on my facebook or twitter. Thank you all for your continued support!Ben
For the last few weeks I haven't been on my website or facebook much. This is mostly due to my wife and I having a new baby boy, and all that entails. I am excited to get back into the swing of things, and hope to start writing on my blog and facebook on a more regular basis. Soon after the baby was born, I released the fourth book in my series, The List Unseen. I have enjoyed hearing the response from readers who have finished it. It is such a crucial story in my series, and connects so many things. Still, I am elated to be working on my next book. I am already a third done with the first draft, and I will announce it's title soon. Aside from that, I turned 31 this week, and I can't believe where my life has gone in a single year. A year ago I was still running a business, and thought that my books were a hobby. A year ago I only had 3 kids, and we hoped to get pregnant soon. A year ago my wife's car was dying, and my car wanted to die. Since then so much has changed. I have published 4 books, and have sold 40,000 copies. I now write full-time. I have a beautiful new son. We have been so fortunate to be able to replace both vehicles with more reliable ones. I would also comment on my wife, but she only gets more awesome and gorgeous each year. I am stunned by what has happened in a single year. And I have so much to look forward to. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to my friends and family that mean so much to me, my readers that love my work and make my wonderful career possible, and my wife. The english language has yet to invent a word good enough to describe her.
Thank you all!
